The Secret Beach in Tel Aviv

In contrast to the Tel Aviv beaches – which, although each has its character, most of which are externally similar – the secret beach of Sde Dov has reefs, rocks, natural ponds, coastal vegetation, and quite a few fish and seabirds. In addition, the sand is less sterile and contains fragments of broken shells.

In 2010, the beach became a little easier to access than a few years ago when it was even wilder and more empty. The approach was arduous and required a detour of Sde Dov from the north. The Tel Aviv Municipality built a modest promenade parallel to the unsightly barbed wire fence of Sde Dov. In addition, it built a train bridge connecting the beach to the harbor and the Reading parking lot.
